christmas (part 1)

here's a little sneak peek of a christmas illustration I'm working on. still balancing out the graphic shapes against the lighting but i want to capture that excitement of decorating and setting up... the best part of the holidays in my opinion :)

Willie, I've always wondered how on earth someone creates that 'canvas' effect (the little holes in your color fill)...is it the brush you use or is it a filter you use? Any tips would be great, I would love to try it out...

Hey Willie,
I was just curious if you've recently shipped any of your Wonders & What-nots book. I placed an order in late October and haven't gotten one, so I'm a little afraid it got lost in the mail or something. I was just curious if the order had been processed or not.
My name is Dave Armstrong and the paypal email address I used was darmstrong.1@go.ccad.edu.

Thanks so much for your help, and also I'm a HUGE fan of your work.

Hey Willie,
Sorry to bug you again, but the book never wound up arriving. Is there any chance you could send another one? Is there some way I can compensate for the inconvenience?
Sorry again about the trouble.
